HI

I am still no further foward to what I was last time I posted a few months ago,. I am in terrible pain and my shunt is blocked.

I was meant to have a revision on 11/4/2011 but my surgeon has decided he wants a holiday (again) so it has been put back to 23/5/2011. Which will mean 1year (or there abouts) that my shunt stopped working :(

Until then I am having to take: trammadol, ibrofen, paracetamol and aspirins at regular times of the day (i need to take them at the times on the box/packet)

I hope all of you sre good.

Oh Jean hug, I cann't believe your surgeon has left you like this, which is totally unacceptable! censored Surely there was another surgeon he could have passed you onto to have your shunt revision done, mine did that with me when he went on holiday, I had one of the other Neuro surgeons do my shunt. Hijm going on holiday. It's not good enough to leave you managing on pain killers, especially if he knows your shunt is blocked. As you know I always say talk to PALS, because they can mediate for you and perhaps get this moved forward. What has he suggested you do if things become worse between now and then?

HI Heidi.

I asked if he can pass me over, it was a no as apparently he is the only neurosurgeon in the hospital  (which I really doubt) It is the same person that out my shunt in then refused to see me now he is doing this censored . I am seeing PALS through the way the other neuros treat me so I will be phoning them up on monday about this idiot surgeon.

He said if my pain gets to bad take more pain relief censored until the pain goes.

I keep getting severe pain in my tummy and back area where my shunt is, I couldnt walk earlier today through the pain. :(

Jean I can only stress to you that if things get worse, then you should either get your GP to see you at home, or go to A&E, because if things are getting this bad it really needs sorting out and quickly. Please let me know how you get on, as this is quite worrying hug
