Sleep Apnea Empty
PostSubject: Sleep Apnea   Sleep Apnea I_icon_minitimeFri Apr 22, 2011 2:38 pm

I was diagnosed w/ mild sleep apnea as a symptom of IIH, but the CPAP seems to give me a worse headache. They offered me a mouth guard but it can shift your jaw structure and cause additional pain, so I'm leery. They don't seem to know much about IIH at the Sleep/Lung Clinic, so I wondered if anyone else has had to deal w/ these issues. Any alternative treatments that have worked??

I too have had a sort of sleep apnea, and was advised to sleep with 2 pillows so that I was raised a bit more. IT seems to do the trick and I have slept a lot better since. I don't know if it would work for you, but you could try it. hug

Thanks for the suggestion Heidi! I actually have added some pillows. Also, switched to natural latex mattress and pillows to address any allergy issues. I'm more comfortable, but still have apnea episodes. I tend to hold my breath when in pain, and I really wonder if the apnea is just an extension of it. I started individual sessions w/ a yoga instructor to work on the breathing, but doesn't seem to carry over into sleep ;)
