I have my first consult/appt with a neurosurgeon tomorrow afternoon. I am a little ( well a lot ) nervous. At this point nothing is really "good news" just more definite of whats to come. I am glad, and relieved in a way because I've been feeling absolutely awful. If it wasn't for the distance alone ( 3 hours ) to my doctors I would have gone for a LP/drain already. I think I am most concerned I will be trading one issue for the next ( all the iih symptoms for shunt problems/malfunctions ) but I am hanging on to my delusional optimism Neuro Consult Tomorrow 18193.
Off to gather more questions, he will be earning his pay tomorrow lol !!

Pam I wish you the very best of luck for tomorrow. hug We do have a booklet with questions, about talking to your Neurosurgeon, which you may find helpful.
I Have IIH Guide To Talking To Your Neurosurgeon
Please stay positive because it isn't all bad having a shunt. I know they can be problematic but I think in the long run they do make a difference. We're all here for you, and if you have any questions or concerns please don't hesistate to ask.

My shunt saved my life. I know how exaggerated and cliche that might sound, but it is the absolute truth. In a matter of months, my life was ripped away, I had a shunt put in, in a matter of months, I was back to where I was before, except emotionally stronger.
