I have had a killer all over my head type of headache for about a week now. Its now to the point where the only thing semi comfortable is to lay flat if I walk work or drive ... basically anything except lay flat the pain is overwhelming. I'm scared has anyone else had this with iih?

*hugs* Hi sweetie .. I'm so sorry you're hurting so much this week! :(

Actually the only time I've really had something like you're describing (where the only way I could relieve the pain was laying flat down) was when I had LOW pressure, for about a week following a lumbar puncture. Have you recently had an LP, or could your pressure be low for some reason?

I do have typical IIH headaches sometimes where it gets to the point that the only way I can relieve them is to basically lay down and rest till they let up ... but they don't generally come right back as soon as I try to walk, drive, etc. Maybe some others here will have some experience to share.

Hang in there, sweetie! Have you called your neuro about this pain?

My understanding is the same, if laying flat makes you feel better that is low pressure. You may also find that having lots of caffeine will help.
If you have not had a procedure done recently, you may have developed a spontaneous leak. I would recommend that you call your doc on Monday.

You guys were so right. I had an LP on Thursday. I thought this was my headache getting worse. And my opening pressure Thursday was high also. Didn't occur to me I could have felt this bad from the LP. They told me they drew more out for testing last time so I would have gotten a headache from it then... but boy now were they wrong. That was pure agony. After putting up my post my mom called and told me I should just go into the er. They did a blood patch and I am soo much better. I still have my usual headache but I can be upright without being miserable.
Thank you guys so much for your replys! Have you heard of people getting an LP headache even if their pressure was too high and they only took enough fluid out to test opening pressure? So crazy to me how that happens.

Oh that's good ... I'm so glad you went and got it checked out. It really did sound exactly like how I felt after my LP, so I'm not surprised. And yes, I was like you, my opening pressure was way high, but I still got the low pressure headache afterwards because of the fluid continuing to leak out after the LP. Blood patch should help! Smile And try to take it easy too! *hugs*
