Send an Email Letter to Your Members of Congress Urging them to Avoid Sequestration

The advocacy community, especially those whose funding derives from the nondefense discretionary component of spending [such as National Institutes of Health (NIH) funding], are joining in a campaign to urge Members of Congress to avoid sequestration, or mandatory budget cuts slated for early 2013, by adopting a balanced approach to deficit reduction. NIH funding would be cut by at least eight percent, or $2.4 billion, requiring it to eliminate 2,300 new and competing research projects. The advocacy community wants offices focusing on this issue now, especially as Members will also be hearing from constituents at Town Hall meetings during the upcoming August recess.
