Hello to all. Just diagnosed even though I have been having symptoms for past 5 years. Mine are worst right before my periods. My vision got affected just recently which made me make an appointment to have my eyes examined. The eye doctor found the problem! Ear, Nose and Throat specialist did not. I have had pulsatile tinnutis for the past 5 years so assumed I had an ear problem. It would get worse when PMSing. I am a 52 year old female about 30 pounds overweight. I have the symptoms of what I refer to as brain sore, neck ache, shoulder/upper left back, left arm pain, memory fuzziness, reversing words and sentences, some nausea. It is good to finally put a finger on all this but fustrating at the same time since they really don't know why. Oh well!

Welcome to the group. I can understand your frustration, especially when it's taken so long to get to the bottom of what's actually going on. It sounds like yours has been triggered by your hormones. My IIH is also triggered by my hormones, and I have met others too, one being a lady of 48 who's menopause triggered it.
I love the term "brainsore" because that fits it perfectly! I myself have had IIH for half my life now, so feel free to ask questions and PM me if you need to. Cedwards - diagnosed 2010 Icon_smile

Thank you. I call it Brain Sore because its not really a migraine in my book. My brain just feels sore all the time. Some days worst than others. The doctor put down "does not have headaches" when I made that statement. Jeez! I guess you have to be literal. It's got to be hormonal in my situation. It just makes too much sense for it not to be. Thank you for your support and half your lifetime is an awfully long time for this type of irritation!

Hi Ms. Edwards,

Welcome to the forum. I understand your lament on taking too long to be properly diagnosed. Most doctors really are not adept with IIH and its myriad of symptoms are easily mistaken as something else. Now that it had been finally diagnosed, I hope you can find the right intervention for your condition. Feel free to share your experiences here as well as take time to read the accounts of those who have gone through ahead. IIH is a lifelong path to take and it will require a lot of patience on your side. I bet soon you can work well with your doctor and find the right treatment that suits your condition.

We are all excited to see more of your posts here soon.

Cheer up, the day is young and IIH when managed properly won't even ruin your day.

Saleh
