PostSubject: Eye problem - is it IIH??   Eye problem - is it IIH?? I_icon_minitimeFri Jun 29, 2012 12:11 pm

for the last two days I've woken up with a bloodshot right eye, usually that happens when I haven't had enough sleep and putting in some eye drops usually takes care of it, however yesterday all day I felt like I had a goopy eye, like the fluid in my eye ball was thicker and kept making my vision slightly blurry and was slightly watery and I feel like I need to rub my eye to clear my vision or blink lots to try and clear it. Today was pretty much the same and it's bloodshot again too and feels like the liquid in my eye is thicker/goopy than it should be.

Could this be my IIH or something else?

I also noticed tonight after my physio appointment for my dodgy shoulder that my vision was quite blurry, he worked on the muscles in my neck at the base of my skull but didn't crack my neck and when I got home I had a slight ringing in my ears which has now gone a few hours later - I'm thinking that's all related to IIH but unsure if the vision bit is due to whatever is happening to my eye or from the physio

I should add that I have had good nights sleep both nights, so it's not lack of sleep like it usually would be

Hi Lisanne,

I would suggest getting in touch with your Opthamologist or your doctor as it could be just a normal eye irritation or it could be due to swelling from Papilledema. I would definitely get it checked out because of all the vision changes.

Let us know how you get on hug

This sounds like you could possibly have conjunctivitis I get this myself when I'm really run down or ill. The symptoms of conjunctivitis are:

Redness in the white of the eye or inner eyelid
Increased amount of tears
Thick yellow discharge that crusts over the eyelashes, especially after sleep
Green or white discharge from the eye
Itchy eyes
Burning eyes
Blurred vision
Increased sensitivity to light

Thank you! I have an appointment in 3 weeks - maybe it is mild conjunctivitis? I think I'm at a point where anything that isn't 'normal' I'm wondering now if it's IIH or not - it's going to drive me batty if I keep thinking along these lines about everything

We do tend to notice things that we would have overlooked before. The best thing to do is keep a daily journal where you can jot down something new or different, how long it lasts, how it made you feel. Then bring that with you to the doctor's. It is so very helpful for them to be able to help us.

In the meantime, try to wash the skin around the eye frequently, with a mild soad (like baby shampoo) and keep your fingers away from your eyes.

Feel better soon. hug
