Anyone here from Colorado ? Empty

I am on the hunt for a GOOD neurologist who knows about IIH ..... I have yet to find one - either they know nothing about IIH and are willing to spend an hour with you (which is useless if they dont know about IIH) or they know something about IIH but treat you like cattle going through a stock-aid. Get um' in as quick as they can and out as quick as they can.

I had such high hopes today, I had an appt with a headache and neurology center. The dr. (only one in the "clinic") was half way out the door before she stopped long enough for me to ask a question and then she just brushed it off saying she would see me in three weeks.

I am angry, depressed and feel hopeless when it comes to finding a doctor who knows about IIH and is willing to take the time to really HEAR their patient!

So this is a call for help --- if their is anyone in the Denver Co area who has found a good Neuro who knows about IIH will you PLEASE send me their information!??

I wish the US was as up to date on IIH as the UK seems to be :(

Help thank you

I'm so sorry you're having such a difficult time..how absolutely frustrating!!! I know nothing about Colorado, but they do have a Mayo Clinic in Colorado Springs. I ended up having to go to Cleveland Clinic for my IIH because no one in Columbus could help me. It's a three hour drive, but totally worth it. I've heard Mayo Clinic is similar. A good neuro-ophthalmologist may also be a good substitute..they can prescribe meds and monitor your vision. Hopefully, someone in your area will speak up..

my fingers are cross

Hi Very Happy the IH Research Foundation has some very helpful links to resources for finding a doctor near you who treats IIH. Here's the link it could be worth having a look at. Resources for Finding a Doctor

Hello!  I live in Woodland Park Colorado and just saw a pretty good neurologist in Colorado SPrings today.  I just switched on the recommendation of my opthamologist.  He hasn't seen a case of IIH in 10 years, and not one my age, but he listened and came up with a treatment plan I am comfortable with. I am allergic to diamox, and lasix is not very effective,  He thinks I have migraines on top of IIH, so we are looking into treating both.  If my new drugs don't work, off to shun land!  LEt me know if you want more info, or if you found a good dr in Denver, I am willing to travel if this one doesn't work out.  Sherry
