I have tried virtually all medications I can think of to treat migraine before I was diagnosed about 8 months ago with iih. Since that time I have tried and failed diamox alone and in combo with furosemide. I also take topamax which I still take and have for about 12 years. Does anyone have any other suggestions? I cannot restart the diamox. Wondering if diueretics alone are helpful? Also specifically aldactone (spironolactone) as even with potassium supplementation I have has low potassium that has been very problematic. See my neuro in a few days and would really appreciate suggestions. I think I am heading towards a shunt but cannot tolerate the symptoms and pain any longer. Need some relief until I have surgery.

There aren't that many medications for IIH and you seem to have had the main ones, which are usually effective in treating IIH. Discuss with your Neurologist what all your options are, we have a booklet Talking to your Doctor and also one on Talking to your Neurosurgeon, which have questions you might find helpful to use.

Thanks Heidi. Will print our the info. One further question. I have been reading through all of the postings to see if I can gain some insight and in general for a sense of comrodary. Thought I remembered a mention of something in the works about posting iih specialists. Has that happened? If so where do I find?
Also just wanted to mention again how much I appreciate this site and everyone's help. It does so much for my soul and well being to know that I am not alone and I have people rooting for me who understand what it is to live this life.
