 What is pyloric stenosis?
Pyloric stenosis is a problem with a baby's stomach that causes forceful vomiting. It happens when the baby's pylorus , which connects the stomach and the small intestine, swells and thickens. This can keep food from moving into the intestine.

Courtesy of wise geek: (I say this many other places but this explained it best I thought)
One of the most life-threatening causes of projectile vomiting is having increased intracranial pressure. The cranium, made of bone, only contains a limited amount of space for its contents, including the brain, linings of the brain, and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). A number of conditions can cause a pathologic increase in the pressure inside the brain, including brain tumors, the presence of excess CSF, meningitis, encephalitis, or bleeding in the brain. The increase in the pressure inside the cranium irritates the part of the brain the controls the process of vomiting, stimulating affected patients to have the onset of sudden, forceful vomiting. Other symptoms of increased intracranial pressure can include headaches, especially early in the morning, blurred vision, and confusion.

I had it when i was very little and had it taken care of. But for some reason i decided to see if there was some type of connection. Gives me something to think about and talk with my Nero with too.

So have you had Pyloric Stenosis or know of anyone who has had it as well as A Form of IIH?

~Thanks A Bunch~

Hi Nichole,

My little boy who is 2 had pyloric stenosis at 6 weeks old. No probs following on from it but certainly worth keeping an eye as I have IIH.
Would be interesting to see if there is a link between the two.

Pyloric stenosis is certainly one of the most horrifying things I have ever seen in my entire life. I was fobbed off for a few weeks being told I had a sicky baby but he could vomit uphill and over things. It doesn't surprise me that it causes other problems. My little one was badly dehydrated and lost weight while he waited in hospital for a specialist surgeon to come and operate. Scary times.

Keep me posted if you find out any more information.
