:Got new shunt fitted in november after a year of lps every five weeks .Its so nice to get rid of the constant feeling that my brain is going to break open, but my tummy is swelling to a massive size when i eat and the pain under my lungs are horrific .it is always gone in the morning though .I also have terrible pain around my pelvis(right side)and down my leg .Not going to hospital as i have had such a bad time with rejection of cf fluid. my poor neoro surgeon will remove the shunt for my own safety ps i have a brill neuro team and nurses (ninewells).Has anyone got these problems and what can i do to make myself more comfy!!!!!! thank you ) .

Ashley, you poor dear! I'm afraid I have no idea what you maybe experiencing, but I would follow up with your physician right away. There are so many complications & other possibilities that you don't want to take any risks..especially if you've had issues in the past.

Take care, and keep us posted,
Julie

Ashley, I find I have pelvis pain too. Sometimes pain near the shunt valve, on right side abdomen. Certainly major gut changes post shunt. My pains don't last long and are very bearable. I have to agree with Julie. A call to your doc is a good idea

Ashley I have to agree with both Julie and Linda, seeing your Doctor is the best thing to do, he might send you for some scans and xrays just to check it out. In the meantime try using a heatpad or hot water bottle on the area where the pain is because it might help.

Heidi for you

I agree with everyone, you need to see your doctor as it might not be down to your shunt it could be something else and your doctor can order scans, x-rays and blood test. He can also give you pain medication.
Hope you get sorted soon and get some relief xx [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
