Claire they aren't silly questions, and if you need answers you are always right to ask us to get them. It is usual for the Neurosurgeon to make 2 or 3 small incisions so that he can place the shunt valve, so please don't be alarmed. It depends where the valve is being place that determines how many incisions are made.

Y:es you can still wear an underwire bra as normal, I myself have a Vp shunt and I wear underwired bras. It's a perfectly reasonable question to ask. We encourage you to ask them no matter if you think they are stupid questions so never apologise for any you ask. These are the kind of things that you need to know for your own peace of mind, and by asking them and having them answered, other members who have the same questions will see them.

I haven't experienced anything like that since having a shunt. It might be an idea to get checked out with your doctor as it could be a virus or bug, and he will be able to tell you if it is and put your mind at rest. Keep us updated hug

I myself had a shunt put in just under 3 months ago. Since then I can feel two lumps at the back of my head and my shunt is visable under the skin of my neck and head. I wear a underwire bra with no problems. If my lumps get bigger and tender its a sign the shunt is blocking which it has done three times since the op x thats not the case with everyone. You should get checked out if anything is worrying you hun , no question is stupid on here x
