I was diagnosed with what was then called benign intracranial hypertension in 1989 and had several LPs before being prescribed Diamox. The diamox worked quite well in reducing the visual problems and headaches although I suffered very badly with pins and needles. In 1997 I had a relapse of the symptoms and was given an Optic Nerve Sheath Fenestration. This was not particularly succesful and so in 1998 I had a VP shunt fitted, which has been marvellous. The last couple of weeks I have been getting extremely dizzy and lightheaded. Still not sure if it's to do with the IIH as I have not been getting any headaches, Will have to phone my consultant and try to get seen.
