| Hi Everyone!! You know I bet this tinnitus is exactly the same frequency as those darn dog whistles that people have! This is driving me NUTS! My left ear is far worse and the hearing is going. I thought my LP last thurs. would help it, but it didn't. Is this something that is permanent? Does anyone else have this? Kind of scary! Just out of the blue it plugged up and the ringing got worse. Now I remember why my signature on my Cell Phone is JUNK PARTS!!!! |

| Thank you! but I can still get up and function today so, I am not complaining... too much. Was just an observation. lol We all need a magic potion for this. Then again it could all be so much worse, so I am thankful. |

| Tinnitus is a cochlear aberration where you can hear a whistling or beeping sound in your ear. This is because our EENT ducts are interconnected hence; high pressure in the head pushes all those parts to go haywire. So far tinnitus cannot be directly addressed but in some cases analgesics used for headaches tame its occurrence. As for the annoying dog whistle, earplugs will work. In the days of old, that is during the middle ages, they medicine men address tinnitus with a magic potion... yes, a magic potion of scalding oil poured in the ear. Of course it burns the ear canal that the pain from the burn takes you off from concentrating in the whistle. But I don't suppose one is macadamia enough to do this. I just brought this up in response to Geri's magic potion. As a quick fix, as soon as you wake up. Hold your nose and blow air tight so as the expansion in your middle ear will put those haywire hairs (in the cochlea) to order thereby preventing an occurrence of tinnitus. If this doesn't work then you will have just to bear it.
Cheer up; who knows this whistling you hear is just a handsome prince calling you from his noble steed.
Have a great day. |

| Ok, I like the last part LOL! Great way to look at it. Like I said Things could be so much worse so, I just keep plugging away as we all do. I will still have fun, I will still smile, and when I can't I will go to bed. If nothing else, looking up and researching this is quite interesting. MY LOVE TO ALL!! |

| I know what you mean about the whistling dog thing, mine usually comes when I'm on the phone an then I miss half of what's being said, because it drowns them out. Some days it's worse than others, but it does get annoying. nuhuh |

| I have had a constant high, loud pitch for over 10 years. Probably the first sign of IIH. It has affected my hearing,as it is so loud. I noticed it gets louder when I am over tired. My ears always feel full lately, and unfortunately, the trick of holding your nose and blowing doesn't work for me. It is never a pleasant thing, but guess I'm so used to it,it doesn't drive me crazy anymore. I tried the vitamins that were supposed to cure tinnitis, but they didn't help. The only thing that may help is a hearing device to mask sounds. The ear specialist told me they look like a hearing aide, but produce "white" sounds so the tinnitis isn't as noticeable. I never got these,as they are expensive. I wish you the best, and would be great if someone had a cure! |

| The only thing the holding the nose and blowing trick does for me is make me pass out! I guess that's temporary relief from the whistling. lol |
