It's important to be able to maintain a positive level of self esteem and confidence. IIH seems to suck the life out of you, and gives you a feeling of total uselessness and inability to do the simplest things. As time goes on the less you feel capable of doing, the lower you feel and eventually it wears you down.

This is where setting yourself small goals can help you. They don't have to be on a large time consuming scale, but can be little things that others take for granted. Every time you manage to complete one of these goals, it gives you back the feeling of choice, sense of achievement and above all your confidence!

So what are these small goals that I'm talking about you're probably thinking? Setting yourself small goals Icon_scratch Well it could be reading that book you keep putting off, swimming, going for a walk, or visiting friends/family, or just having play time with your children. It doesn't matter what goal it is because we all want to achieve different things, but again the key thing is to make you feel confident, and happy, and to give you a sense of well being because it was something you set out to do, and did!

Everytime you complete a goal it will motivate you to complete another, then another and so on. Each one will make you more and more confident as you prove to yourself that you can still do things with IIH. They may take you a while, but it doesn't matter because it's all about you, and building you back up to feeling self assured.

Download any of these handy Goal Charts from chartjungle.com

They include longterm and shorterm goal charts, monthly goals list and yearly goals etc. Simply pick the one you think is more suitable for you. Our tip Setting yourself small goals Icon_smile is to start with something small and work your way up from there.
