Hope everyone is having a pain free day! I would just like to know how long it took to recover from LP shunt surgery? How long did it take to adjust to the lower pressure?

It took me a couple of weeks but that was mainly from the wounds. We're all different, so your body may adjust to it quite quickly or it may take a week or two, so I wish you a speedy recovery.

same here really 2 weeks but that was because of the wombs I had staples and they pulled a bit when moving x as for the low pressure head aches in helps staying well hydrated (water) helped and also red bull or just caffeine not a lot or u wont sleep but it really dose help the low pressure good luck xxx

Thanks so much guys for the reply. It is great have some positive feedback. I am thankful that I am better because before I did not get any relief due to high pressure. Now, I feel great when I am laying down. I have a LP shunt along with a VP shunt that wasn't draining due to collapsed ventricles. I just know I am on the road to recovery! I had some coffee earlier and it seems to be a bit better.

Caffeine will definitely help the low pressure headaches..be sure to follow up with surgeon, if lasts more than 7-10 days. I ended up having a caffeine drip after one surgery because the effects were so bad, but it was awesome! Hopefully a couple of weeks and you'll be good as new!!!

So happy to be able to post that I feel almost normal again. My NS added the LP shunt Aug 1st. I did have low pressure problem and my VP shunt was turned up to allow for less drainage. I have been able to get my life back to somewhat normal. Thanks to everyone for the wonderful support this forum brings. I hope everyone get some relief from this horrible disease!
