So, my headaches have been under control and now I have neck pain, constantly!! What in the world is this?? It started a few weeks ago. I thought maybe it was because my recliner has a headrest that is at an odd angle, but this is the same chair I've had for years. Now, if I happen to lay down on my right side, when I try to move, the pain is excrutiating. I have an email in to my docs, but am wondering if anyone else has neck pain. Unlike my headaches that seem to move around to different areas in my head, the neck pain is always in the same area, the right rear side (if my nose is at 12 o'clock, the pain is at 4:30). My balance and cognition is deteriorating also. UGH! The pain has become constant, bad when sitting or standing, and unbearable when laying down. I used to use a wedge when I sleep, but now that just makes it worse.

Any ideas?

I wonder if you have a shunt problem. whenever I've had a malfunctioned shunt I've had similar problems. Hopefully your Neuro will get back to you and arrange to see you and check it out properly.

Oh Linda, I'm so sorry! I agree with Heidi..the shunt was my first thought. I also wondered if you've had any problems with your ears..I don't know much about Ramsay Hunt, but I know Shingles pain can be unforgiving and once you get them you're more susceptible. Hopefully it will all make sense to the docs and they'll be in contact soon!

Does heat, cold, or massage help? Fingers crossed it will be an easy solution!!!

Take care,
Julie

I just got home from the ER. I went to PT this afternoon, my therapist took one look at me, called my Neurologist, who sent me to the ER. I was poked and prodded, slightly elevated WBC, everything else normal. So, my NS just happened to be at the hospital, in surgery, while I was there, and the Docs at the ER consulted with him. He suggested adjusting my shunt valve down one notch, which we did. We'll give it two-three weeks and see if it does the trick. If it doesn't, or things get worse, I will see the Radiologist and have another lp and myleogram.
I for one, am keeping fingers crossed
