hi all; I just ran across a new paper just published last month, on MRI findings in IIH in obesity. I've been told not to post links here, so I'll just say, go onto pubmed and search: "MRI Evidence of Impaired CSF Homeostasis in Obesity-Associated Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension" and it should pop right up. I've gotten hold of the PDF of the paper, so if anyone wants it, just PM me with your email address and I'll email it to you. going out of town for a few days so be patient if I don't get to it right away.

basically they have shown that there is increased extraventricular fluid in obese IIH patients, accompanied by impaired flow through the jugular veins. they also showed increased fluid in the grey matter compartment, suggesting there are two parts to this: brain edema as well as decreased CSF drainage. they quote the going theory of increased central venous pressure leading to the problem with the jugular vein, but in my mind it could also be anything in the neck compressing the veins, as we have seen with the recent discovery of styloidogenic jugular venous compression syndrome (Nakaji et al).
