I thought I read here that Tramadol can cause some eye changes? I have not been diagnosed with IIH but had increased spinal pressure and many symptoms but no papilledema. I am wondering since I have been taking Tramadol for back pain if it is coving up some of the eye changes but I can't locate that post here or anything on the internet that explains. Please help ASAP since my appointment is tomorrow.

I am very sorry that I am now only able to reply to your post, and can only apologise profusely for your not having a response when you were needing answers. Tramadol can cause vision disturbances as well as other side effects. I have now updated our medication section to include information about Tramadol, a little late for you now I know, but the information is now there. I hope that this will not put you off posting in the future, as it is very rarely that a post is missed and goes unanswered.

Oh my gosh not at all. It was just a thorough explaination that I had seen i wished i could have found it. My appointment was fine without the information as I was able to talk to the eye doc about it.

Tramadol may induce pupillary changes (miosis) that may obscure the existence, extent, or course of intracranial pathology. Therapy with tramadol should be administered cautiously in patients with increased intracranial pressure or head injury. Clinicians should maintain a high index of suspicion for adverse drug reaction when evaluating altered mental status in these patients if they are treated with tramadol.
