Hi, I had a shunt placement 4 years ago. I had
headaches from the beginning. Now
finally they have closed it completely. I would just like to know if anybody had
problems after the shunt has been closed. Mine was closed on 15 Oct 2012
and since then my lower back has been paining a lot. Especially when I
try to bend forward or want to lie down.

Thanx

Hi Nicci and welcome to the forum.
Have you asked your docs about your back pain? If you had a vp shunt it should not have involved your back.
I am curious as to why you had your shunt closed off if you still have headaches? Do you think they may be low pressure headaches?

Hopefully some of the others will be by to add some of their experiences.

I am supposed to go for a checkup on 6 Nov will do then. The reason they closed it was due to the headaches. Since it has been closed i am pain free and its been 7 days without any pain medication so that is the best thing ever did. Its just my lower back that hurts.

Wil wait a few days lol.

Thanks

I would talk to your neurologist about the problems you are having, so that he will be able to investigate further, in the meantime you could ask your regular doctor if an anti inflammatory medication would help, you could also use a heatpad or hotwater bottle to help ease any pain.
