So, I found this article, one of many, about a condition called vertical heterophoria.  Many of the symptoms are similar to IIH.  Has anyone been tested for this?

hi Wylee, thanks for posting this!  this is really interesting.  I have a vertical phoria.  it came on about 9 months after my IIH symptoms started.   of course they thought it was from my Graves, and actually 2 ophthalmologists missed it and I had to go to an optometrist, a specially trained one who does vision therapy.  my symptoms were corrected with prism lenses.  I have orbital asymmetry, and with my Graves my proptosis was greater on the right as a result, I assume.   I had fat reduction to even the eyes out.  I had that head tilt back when it started.  I used to get made fun of over it.  during my daughter's pregnancy I was able to stop wearing the glasses until she was 2 months old.  with my son's pregnancy, I was able to stop wearing the glasses and never had to wear them again.  with all these other symptoms they attribute to the phoria, however, I'm wondering if I should try wearing my glasses again!  I don't seem to need to close one eye to read except first thing in the morning, close up.  I only used the glasses to correct the diplopia, which I now only have upon extreme upward gaze/right upward gaze.  Now in retrospect I think all of it was from the IIH.  because after my jaw surgery, after being on painkillers for 2 weeks and confirming by blood gas that I was hypoventilating (accounting for my extreme sedation that I think was ICP), all of a sudden I needed the glasses again, and my left eye looked more proptotic.  and the antibody that was supposedly causing the eye disease was normal, the lowest it had ever been.  given how difficult it was for me to get diagnosed with the phoria, (including the strabismologist missing it and suggesting maybe I just needed an antidepressant to correct my perception of difficulty looking up) I wouldn't be surprised if many here also have this problem but have not been diagnosed.

yes, exactly.  I think that due to the particular anatomy of my eyes, the pressure was transmitted into pushing the entire globes out, rather than disturbing the optic nerve.  I think this changed the relationship of the eyes to each other and put pressure on/altered the relationship of the muscles that move them, leading to the phoria.

I have to close one eye to read, especially when I'm tired, my eye dr wants to give me prism glasses, I may do that since the eye I like to read with for some reason is the one that is the most painful!
