I have noticed that whenever the weather is dreary, the pressure in my head seems to be worse. I am not sure if this is stress related or whether I have seasonal affective disorder or not, but I did hear from my GP that the barometric pressure in the air could possibly play havoc with the pressure in your brain! Interesting, huh? :flower: Does anyone else experience this problem? Or any other weather related problem? x

Absolutely..stormy weather is the worst! I've also noticed issues w/ weather changes like warm or cold fronts. We've often talked of moving, but it seems like humidity, altitude, and all kinds of things affect us..just trying to figure it what works here.

I completely agree! Thunder and lightning and stormy-type weather instantly seems to take control of my head, its a horrible feeling! Sorry to hear your pressure is so bad that you might consider moving states, maybe countries? Although the prospect of moving pastures new doesn't sound too bad! I hope you manage to figure out a climate that is better for you. IIH is horrible, and a lot of people who may not have IIH or even have heard of it don't realise its not just headaches - there's so much more, things that you wouldn't even think would affect your body, such as the weather. I really hope things improve for you soon! :flower:

Thanks Melissa! It's so nice to get feedback from people who understand!!! I live in Ohio and I swear they should rename it the grey state..this year has been really rainy and we're still having thunderstorms the week of Christmas! It's killing me, but I just think it's circumstantial. Honestly it won't be perfect anywhere I live, so trying to make the best of it and hope for more sunshine in 2012! Thanks again and take care, Jule

Hey Jule No problem, we're all in this together! I've never visited Ohio before, sounds a bit gloomy from what you say! I really hope you do manage to find some relief for your symptoms. You sound so lovely and I hope and pray for more sunshine for you! Until the sunshine arrives, I hope you are able to have a great Christmas I only found these forums a few months ago but I tell you, they support from everyone has been amazing. I think they have armed me with the knowledge and strength to know how to deal with IIH. What questions to ask the doctors, what things to do, what not to do, the sense of community here is amazing and I love it. I'm so proud to be a part of it :flower: Have a fabulous Christmas!

yup it sure does. Makes my knees go a little funky too. I have noticed that on days that we have a full moon my head pain is almost unbearable.

The weather plays havoc on me. Not only are my headaches worse but I will tend to lose my eyesight as well. I can feel a front coming in before it even starts to rain or snow. There are times the symptoms will wake me from a dead sleep. I have talked to my neurologist about this and he has had other patients complain as well. I have also noticed a change in altitude can make my symptoms worse. I live in the mountains and work a couple thousand feet lower. But if it is storming and I am driving towards the mountains I can feel the pressure get a lot worse than on days without bad weather; when you combine the two it makes for a bad experience. There have been plenty of days I have thought about moving to sea level and finding a place that does not have extreme changes in barometric pressure, cuz Colorado is making me miserable with the extreme changes in weather during the fall and spring.

Hi Erika, and welcome to the forum. Living in Colorado can be painful on a good day let alone when you have IIH. When I first got sick 4+ years ago I was driving from Mesquite, NV through Utah and Colorado on I-70. I thought my head was going to explode it hurt so much. You just may end up having to move to lower ground if it keeps bothering your IIH!!

I live in the front range area of Colorado and definitely agree that fall and spring wreak havoc on my ih. May of this year I started cranial sacral therapy and it helps lessen my symptom increase that usually occurs with weather changes. When fall arrived I went three weeks with extra sessions ( from once a week up to three times a week ). I started with three times a week in May and by the end of July I was down to once a week, unless I had a really bad week.
