It sounds like they hit your sciatic nerve which can happen. You might find this helpful to read Sciatica If your symptoms are the same as the ones listed, have a chat with your Neurologist about it, and he may be able to prescribe you something to help with it.
You're right to complain and to let them know you aren't happy with these past events.

So do i and i could feel both of them hit bone several times a couple of times they tried putting the needle in places where they hadn't even put the local in. This was my 10th LP im on Topiramate now instead of acetazolamide still not working i have seen a Neuro surgeon he wants to put in a stent or shunt but im not too sure about having it done.

I'm sorry you've had such horrible experiences w/ LP. I would recommend requesting LP by fluroscopy, if possible. The radiologist can see where the needle is going and make adjustments as needed. It's still a needle in your spine, but reduces the number of attempts and mistakes. I guess I'm lucky because my neuro-ophthalmologist and diagnostician felt that LP was barbaric and should only be used for diagnosis and emergency purposes..I've only had a dozen or so over the past 15 years, but still have damage to my sciatic nerve.

Personally, I would much rather have a shunt surgery every few years than a LP every few weeks/months. Every time you have a spinal tap it creates damage and scar tissue. With all of your experiences I would be more concerned about permanent damage from LP than a shunt surgery. I know it's a scary process, but I would do the research and talk to your neurologist about the options..maybe consult with a neurosurgeon before you rule it out.

I hope you find some relief soon!

Thank you i have spoken to a neurosurgeon and he says he wants to perform a shunt he says im a good candidate for it as im having too many LP`s and the drugs are not keeping the pressure down. Ive never had a LP lower than 35 they have told me anything over 25 is too high and i have Palpadema in my left eye the right eye is ok to to now.

Sure sounds like a shunt would be in order. Talk with the NS and see if a VP or LP shunt would be better for you. I have a lp, with a programmable valve on it. We have changed the settings a few times already, checking to see what is better to help rid me of my symptoms. It is so much better than a shunt without the ability to program the valve. I hope your doc will agree to that too.
I agree with Julie. From your need to have lp's done so often and without the guidance of a CT Fluoroscope sounds awful. I would opt for the shunt and sooner rather than later. Need to save that eyesight!! Good luck.
