Seems like a trivial question to me, but I haven't experienced nausea since being diagnosed with IIH but the past 2 weekends I have attempted to have a sociable drink with friends and family, but can't drink more than half a glass of wine without feeling really sick. I feel like a right boring old woman when I ask for a juice rather than a wine now, people look at me as if i've grown 2 heads or something! Could it be the diamox mixed with alcohol making me feel sick?

I haven't had a drink since 24 yrs ago so I don't know what would happen. I did have a sip of wine once in 2003 and was a zombie for hours. I think for us with IIH we are pretty much on edge with our functioning, so if you add something like alcohol which is a neurotoxin and an organic solvent, then you can expect to not have good results. think about using an alcohol pad to clean up magic marker....it basically gets in your brain and starts dissolving your cell membranes. after I started learning about these things in medical school I could no longer ingest it. the first cells in the brain to be affected by alcohol are the Purkinje cells in the cerebellum, which controls your coordination and balance. with IIH we already have issues in this area. sounds like you might need to give up on the stuff.

hey there!! ive been wondering about diamox and alcohol too.. my friend had a party the weekend and went way past "one too many" :oops: but I must say the day after I wasn't my old typical kind of hungover, I just felt exausted.

I cant get past the 1 glass without feeling sick, but I tell u if ever I needed a drink to unwind and de- stress...That time would be now! IIH is taking over my entire life!

I like to have a drink every once in awhile....I have come to find out with experimenting with different alcohol. If I drink liquor or mixed drinks I cannot even usually drink but maybe half the glass, I even atone time had only takin two drinks and then I had to stop. It unfortunate to me a little lol cause holiday season is coming up and I like to enjoy egg nog with my favorite whiskey Jack Daniels. I couldn't handle half a tall glass last yr so hopefully I can enjoy one or two this year. The only thing I seem to be able to have more of is beer, colors light is my choice, and I usually only have two to three, and I only have a few beers every couple months, I'm not a big drinker I like to drink everyone in awhile for the taste of the alcohol, my husband things I'm a little strange cause of it lol my experience whin drinking liquor is nausea and vomiting, and sometimes stomach pain
