I had a Lumbar puncture 6 weeks ago and a week ago my blurry eyes started back and the headaches are really bad!!. I have an appt on Thursday (14th) with my neuro but I'm just wondering how often do they need to be done. I know I need one already and its only been 6 weeks since my last one. Is this very soon since the last one? Is it not dangerous to get them so often my back still hurts from the last one when I get up and sit down.

Just looking for some advice Smile

Are your headaches worse when you're upright and feel easier when you lay down? If so they could be down to low pressure. The lumbar punctures are usually done when your doctor feels that you need to have one if he thinks that your pressure needs to be decreased because it is too high. I don't think it is dangerous to have them regularly, but it does over time affect your back because of the scarring lefty behind.

Before my shunts, when I was on Diamox there were times when I had them in multiples of 2 or 3 within several weeks of each other.

There mainly low pressure headaches but even the when its not low pressure its just a constant pain on the right side of my head and back of eyes. I just get on with it and try to stay positive Smile but I'd do anything to have a painfree day :(

The best way to cope with a low pressure headache, is to stay laid flat, plenty of fluid, caffeine and some painkillers. Coke is a good way of getting lots of caffeine too, or you can get some caffeine tablets from a herbalist/Pharmacy for example. Have you contacted your Neurologist about it? If not ring him and ask for an appointment to see him about it, so he can investigate why you're having these issues. hug
