Hello. My name is Nahant and I have just joined IIH. My 79 y.o. husband had been falling and moving slowly for the past several years but it was not until these falls became increasingly frequest and without warning or apparent cause...in November 2010...that we started the slow and stumbling path of neurological assessment. NPH keeps coming up as the most likely cause. Friday he had a LP with pre and post assessments. Immediately post-procedure he noted a feeling of normalcy returning to both feet, but his post procedure gait, balance and neuropsych assessments were not improved. Fatique, hunger and other less than ideal environmental factors may have contributed to this. By the end of the day we were both drained and discouraged and must wait until Tuesday to learn the medical formulation and recommendations...most specifically, will he be a candidate for shunt surgery, what can be expected in his case, and what quality of life might he have without surgery. Yesterday was a day of rest for both of us and in the evening he commented that he felt his balance might have improved some. I am making note of subjective and objective observations, but feeling very alone in this journey. Thank you for your welcome and I look forward to any guidance you all can provide.
