_{What advise or feedback can anyone provide about the angiogram?}

I spent the day at the Mayo Clinic today and had a consultation with a neurosurgeon/radiologist to review my scans and discuss venous sinus stenosis. What I thought was a stenosed vein may be thrombosed and the vein on my good side that appears on the scan to have good blood flow may be stenosed. They are scheduling me for an angiogram to measure pressure differentials in the venous sinuses and arteries and to get a real picture of the structure in order to make an educated decision of next course of action.
What advise or feedback can anyone provide about the angiogram?

Had my angiogram yesterday. Wasn't as bad as I feared. Amazing that they can go through the groin all the way up into the brain and send you home several hours later!
They are studying the results but at first glance the doctor said that the bad side is really narrow from birth and not stenosed. He said that he probably wouldn't be able to stent as the vessel is not large enough but hasn't completely ruled out stenting and will look at all options. I'm afraid that my only recourse will probably be the VP shunt which was my least favorite option. The surgeon at the Mayo Clinic did make us feel a little bit more at ease about their sucess with shunting so we will see what happens.

Mark, I'm glad to hear the procedure went well. I completely understand your apprehension about the VP shunt. I recently visited the Cleveland Clinic and briefly discussed the same option. It is very overwhelming and daunting, but I also was comforted by the professionalism, knowledge, and successes of the staff. I've seen "IIH specialists" in Columbus, but they were still eons behind the clinic..the difference in these places is truly amazing!

I hope you find the most unintrusive option available and get some relief soon!

Thanks Julie. The surgeon at Mayo saw me later in recovery before I went home. He said that he will find the right option for me and gave me the feeling for the first time in years that my horriffic pain may have an end in sight.
