I've made a big mistake. HUGE. Please dont tell me off. But we are staying with family for Easter and yesterday we went ice skating. Even after all my head stuff and being told not to be silly I decided to have a go on the ice. To begin with I was fine (my husband was not 100% with me skating) "I have to live my life!" [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Anyway I fell backwards and banged my head, but I think the worst bit was because of my heavy landing on my bottom that sent a jolt up to my head. My husband thought I was acting odd and got me off the ice, he said I was acting drunk. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] BUT for the space of about and hour I lost all my memory! Completely gone! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Nothing there. No recollection of falling or even ice skating at all..... infact the whole day was gone! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] To say I was scared was an understatment. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Gradually after about an hour it all came back. Phew!!

Anyway I'm fine now and I will call my doctors and I have an appointment with my surgeon soon anyway. I will be honest with him and tell him what I was doing. I refuse to let this illness stop me from doing what I want with my family.

Just wondered if anyone else has ever had a complete memory loss like this?

You should have gone straight to the emergency Department at the hospital! The fact that you lost memory of it for as long as an hour is quite worrying, and needs to be checked out sooner rather than later, especially as you have a shunt and chiari. See your doctor now NOT later! nuhuh

Hi Charlie,

I agree with Heidi. You should seek medical attention as soon as you can. Notify your doctor of the urgency. I hope the memory loss would just be momentary and temporary. Do not wait for long before seeing a doctor. I bet everything will just be fine and the fall would not have caused a bad implication. Just go slow with things the next time and be careful to avoid accidents such as falls to occur.

I'm OK and will get checked out soon. Promise. I just wondered if anyone has ever had this happen? I honestly dont really know how long it went for, an hour at he most. It was just so strange.

Tell you all one thing, it sure gave me a reality check! I really have to be a bit more responsible. Since I've been much better I think I'm more of a danger to myself. When I was much worse I couldnt even concider doing such a thing as iceskating. I need to think before I do stuff, just its not in my nature!

I think it's an obvious sign of head injury, so I've not had it happen to me.
