I have been perscribed Pain meds to be used daily for the last 20 years, this last combination has worked best so far in helping control the head pain. Fentanyl and Morphine sulfate ER. Another that worked well was Methadone but I feel it should be a last ditch attempt as when the time comes to change the withdrawl is terrible and lasts for months.

What types of pain medication have been helpful?  My teenage son has been in constant pain for over 1 year.  His neurologist has advised against OTC (Advil and Aleve) that are processed in kidney. She also limits his "rescue medication" to 2-3 times per week to prevent rebound headache. The migraine medicines have not helped. He is now taking a Tylenol based med. He has not had a pain free moment and he can't sleep. We are now trying a combo of Botox and nerve blocks...  Would appreciate any advice.
