I thought I saw a topic about tremors related to IIH but can not locate any postings. Am having significant tremors since my Diamox was stopped. It has been suggested that the tremors may be related to suddenly stopping rather than tapering off. I understand this but did not have that opportunity due to an adverse reaction. Was wondering if anyone else has tremors? If so, would you mind sharing what they are like for you and how you have managed them? I was hoping if it was due to stopping the medication they would have resolved but they continue. I appreciate any feedback.

I have tremors which make my whole body shake, especially my legs and arms, but I've only had these for about 6 years and only since many shunt revisions and two subtemporal decompressions.

Could you be more specific about what the tremors are like so that other members will know whether or not they have experienced the same thing?

Here are links to members posts about seizures and feelings of vibrating. I don't know if these are the kind of things you are experiencing. Hopefully other members will be able to tell you whether or not they have had anything like you're experiencing.

Seizures
Does anyone have vibrating face or eye nerves?

Thanks for your reply and I would be happy to describe the tremors to the best of my ability. After I got off the diamox about two to three days later I noticed my hands were shaking. It varies in severity but I always have at least a fine tremor at all times, even when I am lying perfectly still in bed. Today I visited the dr (pcp not neuro) and he commented on my shaking before I brought it up as he could feel the shaking as he was feeling my pulse. At times I find it difficult to write because my hands are so unsteady. The shaking does extend to my arms but i try to rest my elbows on tables so it is not as noticeable. In general I feel weaker and can feel my legs shaking as I walk especially as I climb stairs or go down stairs. I do sit at work but can feel the trembling while lying or sitting still and feel as if my entire body is shaking. Sometimes along with the fine tremor I have larger jerks. I have fallen a few times recently as we'll. I am unsure if this is related to the shaking or just an overall weakness. Twice was while carrying my three year old daughter. I am starting to be afraid to drive as I generally feel unstable all the time. I hope that is a better description and allows others to see if they have any matching symptoms or ideas for me to improve my own trioubles. This forum has been amazing for me. It is so necessary to have the support of others and realize we are not alone. This is definitely a low point for me but having this group has given me some solace. Thank you to each of you.

Have not heard back from anyone but have worsening tremors to the point that I am having difficulty typing here. Also have a new symptom of stuttering. Would really appreciate some feedback as this is all new after the Diamox was stopped and I really feel its due to high pressure.  Anyone with similar experience?  Advice?  Please help I'm afraid.

I think you need to get in touch with your Neurologist, I thought other members may have replied if they experienced the same thing, and as there's been no responses from them, maybe they haven't. You need to see your doctor so he can see whats causing this tremor and stuttering. I haven't experienced this when stopping Diamox.

Thanks again Heidi. Perhaps you are right. My gut is telling me it is from increased pressure on my brain which is affecting many things. Quite scary. I do have an appt but as you may know my dr does not have any experience with iih even though he is a wonderful neuro. I think he is getting quite frustrated. Perhaps a lp will help in the short term.

I have not read anything about these types of tremors and/or stuttering being IIH related, but that's not to say that it isn't.  Do contact your doc.  The Neurologist should be helpful on these.

The only time I've experienced stuttering and/or tremors when related to IIH is when I had a bad reaction to medication or withdrawal, so I would definitely follow up with your doctor asap.

I have tremors and stuttering like you describe when my pressures are up. I also have seizures where my whole body just locks up, these usually last only a couple of minutes but I have had ones that last much longer. Definitely check with your neuro. I try to be careful what I do when my pressure is up. Tremors are my warning that a seizure is probably on the way. Hopefully you can avoid that. I tapered off Diamox but didn't notice any change in tremors or seizure.
